I am building a mini ramp and wondering if I should paint it or not

BEHR makes a good waterproofing stain for wood. If you do decide to paint your ramp then make sure you cover EVERY INCH of it. Especially make sure you cover the edges of your plywood and then ends of all your 2x4's as this is where water can get in the easiest. smallz (builder) wrote: Yea I was thinking about painting, but I wasnt sure if the surface would be smooth enough, since i ride skateboard. I like the feel of smooth surface. rRobertson (expert) wrote: Well I'll tell you what I do. I have a mini ramp and I paint everything except the top layer of Masonite. Since Masonite is fairly cheap (about $15/sheet) I prefer to change the top layer of Masonite every year or two and let the paint protect everything else. If you have the money then that's defiantly the way to do it.
But if you have LOTS of money, you should use Skatelite for the top layer, but it can go for about $100/sheet. smallz (builder) wrote: Thanks for the advice rRobertson, I think I will use the masonite thing. I herd it is supposed to last pretty long on it's own anyways. Megask8ful (builder) wrote: Stained mine works great
